Living in This Beautiful Moment: Presence in Practice
June 6 – 12, 2015
Feathered Pipe Ranch
Finding freedom and unity in our body and in our mind is one of the main goals of yoga practice. We all benefit from time diving deep into a practice and soaking in the power of the yoga poses and the breathing and meditation that allow us to rejuvenate, restore, and remember our true nature. There are few places better suited than the spacious and restful Feathered Pipe Ranch to support and enhance these same regenerating qualities of the practice, which is why we are so honored that De West is christening our 40th anniversary summer season with this very special workshop customized for everybody – and for every body!
This is reverent practice, free of judgment and competition. Classes with De will work with slow, focused movements to cultivate very deep awareness within the body to identify where we have developed longstanding patterns. This awareness creates the opening to discover more energy and openness and the gifts of diminished physical discomfort and reduced stress. This is not an athletic form of yoga, but an individualized process of working with one’s own body, mind and nervous system, all while completely supported by De’s guiding, observation, assistance for each individual with their practice: It may appear that many individual sessions are happening simultaneously.
We will practice together during this workshop with kindness. De’s therapeutic yoga establishes an overall sense of support and well being, resulting in freedom in movement and freedom in stillness. You’ll explore not just the muscular/skeletal body, but also layers of circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine and nervous systems as well. Gently and leisurely you’ll work through the many layers in your body to uncover how to relate to your mind and your breath to develop internal stamina.
